WHO WE ARE
Sharing House is a community organization dedicated to helping under-resourced residents in Transylvania County. Founded in 1981 by local congregations, it now includes over 48 congregations and thousands of individuals and businesses working together to support our neighbors.
We assist housed individuals and families struggling with bills, unhoused residents, the elderly, and the housebound by providing funds for utilities and rent, nutritious food, clothing, showers, and empowerment programs.
Sharing House is the place where our churches, donors, volunteers, staff, and neighbors gather together to practice acts of love and kindness.
— Shelly Webb, Executive Director
Our Neighbor-choice model respects the dignity and decision-making of those we serve. We provide a safe space where neighbors can access services and receive compassionate support.
As community catalysts, we connect neighbors to jobs, housing, and transportation. Our empowerment programs help neighbors become advocates and mentors for others.
Our Mission:
Sharing House connects with residents of Transylvania County to provide crisis assistance and programs that cultivate lasting solutions to hunger and poverty.
Our Vision
Every person in Transylvania County has enough food and resources to thrive.
