On April 20, Sharing House will host a free community workshop, “Bridges Out of Poverty,” from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at Searcy Hall, Brevard Music Center.
The training helps employers, community organizations, social service agencies, and individuals to develop insights and strategies for reducing poverty.
Led by Treasure McKenzie from Muskogee, Oklahoma, the workshop will bring people from all sectors and economic classes together to improve job retention rates, build resources, improve outcomes, and support those who are moving out of poverty. The session presents case studies, videos, simple exercises, testimonials, and real solutions. It will help local organizations discover why “middle class” approaches to poverty reduction don’t yield the desired results.
Refreshments will be provided. To register, please contact Susan Matthews, Empowerment Programs Manager, at susan@sharinghouse.org.
